Attention is a powerful thing…

Can you explain why someone would pay Kim Kardashian $20,000 to tweet a product endorsement?

…Or how Dr. Phil had an estimated earnings of $70 mil in 2015?

Let’s face it, it’s not because they’re the smartest.

Not at all.

Yet, they are each the BEST at something…

You see, people like Donald Trump, Tony Robbins, Suzy Orman, and Martha Stewart understand the power in creating a “name” for themselves… A name that their target market knows and responds to…

In effect, making themselves an industry celebrity – and attracting rivers of money flowing in their direction.

One of my mentors told me:

“Money flows where attention goes.”

Now, I’m not saying you have to be on television to become an “industry celebrity” necessarily…

(If you think public speaking is scary – I’m told TV is even more intimidating!)

Yet, simple actions like getting interviewed in your local newspaper…

Writing articles on popular blogs/websites…

Or being an expert guest on a podcast…

Are a great start to your industry stardom.

For example, I was recently interviewed by Peter Awad on Slow Hustle (I highly recommend you check out: “Lessons from the Wealthy On How to Profit With Charles Gaudet”).

This interview put me in front of thousands of entrepreneurs and business owners…

Yet, the benefit was really MUCH bigger than the obvious exposure and free publicity.

As Seth Godin once said:

“People don’t believe what you tell them. They rarely believe what you show them. They often believe what their friends tell them. They always believe what they tell themselves.”

The fact remains: when people watch you, read about you, or listen to you share valuable information, they’re telling themselves: “This person’s an expert.”

Here’s why it’s important:

We know the average entrepreneur searches at least 10.5 sources before making a decision.

They’re looking for the obvious solution to their problem…

They’re looking for someone they can trust…

They’re looking for an expert.

So, not only does becoming an expert increase your conversions and shorten the sales cycle, other payoffs include:

  • An increase in perceived value
  • Customers actively seeking you out
  • More credibility
  • Free exposure
  • Increased trust

Of course, it doesn’t matter if you’re a metal fabricator, information guru, manufacturer, electrician, software developer, or any other kind of business owner…

Powerful examples can be found in every industry.

Sure, some people hire publicists… others write press releases… some actively request to guest post/be interviewed… or make themselves available on sites like HelpaReporterOut.com (one of my favorites)…

There are thousands of ways to make your voice heard.

And as expert publicist Paul Hartunian says:

“Whoever has the attention of the media wins. I don’t care how small your business is and how large your competitors are. If you know how to get the attention of the media and they don’t, you win.”

And this is one more way you can stand out as a market leader.
